Welcome to Thyme after time, Event Catering, Foodstore & Café in the heart of rural Dorset
We are a Dorset based food store/café and bespoke outside catering company that prides itself on providing freshly cooked food with ingredients sourced in Dorset where possible. The company is run by Margot Annelle Finlay who is a qualified caterer (see below), having worked at upmarket restaurants and outside catering firms before launching Thyme after Time. It all started when Margot had her first child Luke and wanted a way she could 'bring food to the table' while watching him grow up; therefore providing home made pickles, jellies and chutneys to farm shops, delicatessens and the like helped her to do that. The business has grown from strength to strength and she has now taken on a premises at Hazelbury Bryan where you can visit the café and sample the fare, while perusing the locally sourced arts and crafts!
Margot’s qualifications include:
City & Guilds 706/1
City & Guilds 706/2
City & Guilds 711 in Patisserie
City & Guilds 707/6 in Food & Beverage Service
BTEC - First Diploma in Hotel & Catering Studies
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
More news from Margot...
This year I am proud to be a finalist in Blackmore Vale Business awards 'Business women of the year' section. Although I didn't attend the event as work had to come first I feel honoured to have been selected for this prestigious award.
This year has been hard due to changes (mostly staff) beyond my control but I feel that my new colleagues and I will move forward and become even better than before. The working environment and the general buoyancy of the Café and especially the evening events make all the hard work worthwhile.
As my business evolves and the evening events have surpassed my every expectation I have expanded to supplying the same high quality food in a 'take out' formula complete with full reheating instructions and I am amazed to find that this has been even more successful than the evenings themselves. This is in part due to the fact that we have limited space in the Café but it allows the folk that have families to look after and cannot have an evening out, the opportunity to share in our delicious food and especially desserts without the added expense of baby sitters and the dreaded Vat.
The Café itself continues to evolve with perhaps more concentration on quality food and less on the shop side of the business, perhaps this is because I am a natural Chef and not a natural business woman and shop keeper. Each to his own and I trust that my skills as a Chef are what attracts my customer base.
I am extremely thrilled to be in the position to supply Dike and son of Stalbridge (our local independent food store) with our quiches for their deli' counter and hope to be able to expand this in the near future. I believe that 'local' is the future and mass marketing and processed food for profit is perhaps on the wain.
Let us worry about the catering on your big day
One of the regular client feedback comments that Margot receives regarding her outside catering is the instilled confidence and trust she gives them when preparing for their big day, whether that is a wedding, private party or corporate event! When asked, Margot puts this down to years of knowledge & passion in her chosen field!
Margot offers a bespoke menu design service and if you would like to book a meeting with her, she will create your menu according to your needs, taste and budget - all over a cup of delicious coffee in her café! She will then offer you a full quotation based on the information you provide as a no obligation service. She can also provide beverages and hire of crockery, glassware and cutlery if required or point you in the right direction to local people with whom we have worked.
